Atautchimukta: Let Us All Come Together. A Report of the Annual Bilingual-Multicultural Education Conference (7th, Anchorage, Alaska, February 17-19, 1981).
Pulu, Tupou L.; Pope, Mary L.
Sponsored by the Alaska Department of Education and supported by 25 additional organizations and school districts, the Seventh Annual Bilingual-Multicultural Education Conference (1981) was a major activity of the Department, designed to provide training assistance to all persons involved in bilingual-bicultural education programs. The conference theme, "Let Us All Come Together," was used to emphasize the important roles of parents, elders, school personnel, and students in developing and implementing strong bilingual-bicultural education programs in Alaska. Over 50 workshops were offered to help the above groups to participate more fully in bilingual education programs at the community and school district levels. In addition to the workshops and addresses, there were 17 presentations of the arts of most of Alaska's major ethnic groups. Those presentations included dances, songs, shows of ethnic costumes, and displays of various art forms. The report is illustrated with numerous photographs of participants and activities.
