This Project Basic instructional guide contains a series of learning activities designed to help students develop realistic expectations of the world of work and begin to identify and demonstrate those competencies which lead to salable skills and to employment upon graduation. The materials are organized according to competency. Each individual competency sheet contains a behavioral objective, a competency statement, instructional specifications (suggested instructional levels, curriculum concepts/content, behaviors to be demonstrated), suggested learning activities, suggested classroom evaluation activities, extended activities, and vocabulary. The competency sheets are organized into groups designed to enable students to achieve the following goals: (1) to know and understand the options, opportunities, and requirements of the world of work; (2) to understand and value the relationship between personal interests and abilities and work options and opportunities; (3) to demonstrate a broad range of entry-level employability skills; and (4) to apply decision-making and career-planning skills.
