This paper reviews the current literature on the preservation of library materials and develops an overview of the state-of-the-art for conservation programs. The 13 references provided are concerned with the preservation of book materials, the design of processes and facilities to prevent or retard deterioration, development of disaster planning, salvaging of damaged materials, and preparation of conservation policy statements. A pamphlet and two leaflets form the Library of Congress are attached. (RAA)
