Safety and Health Instructional Materials for Vocational Education--A State of the Art Report.
Hull, Daniel M.; Lube, Bruce M.
This report details Task D (of a seventeen-task project), which identified safety and health concepts, knowledge, and skills included in print and non-print materials designed to develop performance outcomes needed by employers and employees. (The project intends to develop performance-based modularized instructional materials for teaching job safety and health in secondary, postsecondary, and adult vocational education programs.) Fifteen occupational clusters are included: agriculture (and agribusiness), business and office, communication and media, construction, fine arts and humanities, home economics-related occupations, health, hospitality and recreation, manufacturing, marine science, marketing and distribution, natural resources and environment, personal services, public service, and transportation. An appendix, comprising most of the report, is a reference catalog for training personnel and planners and provides use and availability information about instructional materials, references, and training aids for modules. One index, section 2, lists materials by occupational clusters and as printed material, nonprint materials, or catalogs. Section 3 is an alphabetical title index to the 164 items. The materials description sections (4-6) comprise the bulk of the appendix. Materials are grouped as printed materials, nonprint materials, and catalogs. For each item the following information is given: title, format, source, items, description (major topics), cluster relevance, and module suitability (subject areas). Section 7 gives addresses for sources. (YLB)
