During the two-year period 1979-80, the National Congress on Church-Related Colleges and Universities operated as a cooperative effort of 23 denominations to examine the issues facing their institutions of higher education. The significant papers and a record of events appear in this and three other volumes. In this volume the contents include three sections containing papers. Section One, on legal issues, contains: Introduction and overview (J. Victor Hahn); Legal Issues for Church-Related Colleges and Universities (Philip R. Moots); Delivery of Legal Services (Kent M. Weeks); Legal Status of Independent Colleges and Universities (Edward M. Gaffney, Jr.); Constitutional Protections for Independent Higher Education: Limited Powers and Institutional Rights (W. Cole Durham, Jr., Dallin H. Oaks); Preventive Law for the College or University (Roger E. Bloomfield). Section Two, on public policy issues, contains: Public Policy Principles (John W. Frazer, Eric C. Watters); Constitutional and Legal Considerations (J. Victor Hahn); The Church, the Church-Related Colleges, and the Struggle for Justice (George N. Rainsford). Section Three addresses financial issues: Financial Conditions and Trends of Church-Related Colleges (John Minter); Patterns of Church Membership, Giving, and Support of Higher Education (James M.
