An Annotated List of Selected Resources for Promoting and Developing an Understanding of Asian Americans.
Moy, Peter
The resources in this bibliography are predominantly written from an Asian American point of view. They were compiled in an attempt to counter misconceptions and "faulty scholarship" that has prevailed in Asian American studies. The bibliography is divided into six areas. Each section is prefaced by a brief historical and contemporary perspective on Asian American groups. "General Resources" lists 24 materials that offer perspecives on many different groups of Asian Americans. The topics relate to historical, political, personal, psychological, and literary experiences. Twenty-three information sources are listed in the "Chinese American Experience." Particular emphasis is given to the history of the Chinese in America. The "Japanese American Experience" cites 29 historical, legal, literary, and community resources. Six documents dealing with the "Korean American Experience" are presented. The paucity of resources reflects the small number of materials available on Koreans in America. Thirteen resources address the historical and contemporary struggle of the "Filipino American Experience.""Multimedia Resources" cites 34 materials recommended as supplementary to history or social studies classes and as tools to study topical issues. An index to publishers of the resources is provided. (MK)
