Elementary Guidance in Oklahoma: A Tentative Handbook. Working Copy.
Sandlin, Blan E.
This guide is designed to assist counselors responsible for the development and implementation of guidance programs at the elementary school level, and is based on the philosophy that guidance programs should be both comprehensive and developmental. The following areas are addressed: (1) program planning; (2) counselor job descriptions and role in relation to other school personnel, students, and parents; (3) the counselor as consultant, coordinator, and evaluator; and (4) sample effective guidance programs. Sample forms for use with students and staff members are provided, as well as appendices containing a bibliography and outlines for specific guidance activities. Although geographically specific, this guide is a resource which can be used to supplement the creative efforts of those working in elementary guidance. (Author/HLM)
