Meyen, Edward L.; Altman, Reuben
Part 9 of a series of 13 instructor's manuals for the competency based training of curriculum consultants for exceptional children focuses on the development of communication processes. Five competencies are considered: (1) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of describing the different communication processes relevant to the role of a curriculum consultant in a local school setting, (2) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of utilizing formal communication models to enhance effective interaction with school personnel on curriculum related problems, (3) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of effectively transmitting information through various communication modes, (4) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of identifying his/her objective for a presentation situation and employ the most suitable techniques, and (5) that a curriculum consultant should be capable of identifying and arranging interpersonal situations which enhance communication. Among materials included in the manual are lists of behavioral objectives for the module, enabling activities, and evaluation criteria for each of the competency components. Space is provided for the instructor to list resources and comments for the activities provided for each component. A conference record sheet is included for each of the five competencies. (PHR)
