Prototype Training Program for the Preparation of Curriculum Consultants for Exceptional Children. Instructor's Manual for Module 3.0: Evaluating/Materials and Media. Competencies 3.1 through 3.3.
Meyen, Edward L.; Altman, Reuben
Part 3 of a series of 13 instructor's manuals for the competency based instruction of curriculum consultants for exceptional children focuses on the evaluation of materials and media. Three competencies are considered: (1) that a curriculum consultant should be familiar with the variety of instructional materials and media available to classroom teachers of special education, (2) that a curriculum consultant should be knowledgeable of these characteristics of instructional materials and media as well as the characteristics of the instructional settings which are relevant to materials and media evaluation, and (3) that a curriculum consultant should be familiar with the existing knowledge (published and unpublished literature including proposed evaluation models) relative to the evaluation of instructional materials and media. Among materials included in the manual are lists of behavioral objectives for the module, enabling activities, and evaluation criteria for each of the competency components. Space is provided for the instructor to list resources and comments for the activities provided for each of the components. A conference record sheet is included for each of the three competencies.
