Annual Report I to the National Institute on Drug Abuse Concerning the National Human Services/Drug Abuse Project for the Period September, 1978 through August, 1979.
Miami-Dade Community Coll., FL.
The 1978-79 activities of the Human Services/Drug Abuse (HS/DA) Project are summarized in this three-part report. The Project, which is coordinated by Miami-Dade Community College (M-DCC), seeks to: (1) form a national HS/DA consortium of two-year colleges, (2) develop two modular and multi-component courses for use in HS/DA programs, and (3) demonstrate a model HS/DA program at M-DCC. Part I of the report presents information on the formation of the consortium and its status as of August, 1979. Part II discusses the progress in the preparation of instructional materials (texts, audio and video packages, and study guides) for utilization in two HS/DA programs: "Introduction to Human Services" and "Chemical Substance Abuse." Part III discusses the implementation and evaluation of a generic, broadly transferable, associate degree program in HS/DA on the New World Campus of M-DCC. Each section addresses its topic in relation to the following aspects: goals and objectives, target population and minority participation, statistical data, other participating agencies, staff and consultation data, publications, credits, titles of current courses offered or staff is attending, minority needs, projected program modification, supervision training, community support, evaluation, problems, budget, relationship with the state drug abuse agency, and research.
