Information concerning the Washington-based Women's Equity Action League (WEAL), its legislative recommendations, and internship program is presented. Excerpts from Title IX sections applying to sport and a memorandum from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) regarding the legal obligations of school officials are included, as well as an outline of action required by schools to eliminate sex discrimination from athletic programs. A model letter of complaint and a description of HEW's prescribed response are given. A list of organizations concerned with women and girls in sport, a selected bibliography of children's books, an extensive general bibliography, and an annotated compilation of audiovisual materials are all included in this kit. A questionnaire designed to monitor users' needs and two overview papers on the general issue of educational finance, school sport, and sex discrimination complete the material. (LH)
