Advice for college students on attending classes, studying, writing papers, and taking exams is included in this guide. The discussion of classes includes: choosing courses, planning a schedule, choosing professors, and in-class behavior and participation. Studying techniques, including techniques for different types of courses, reviewing for final exams, and proper study habits, are examined in the second section of this handbook. Section three provides a lengthy discussion of term papers, which includes: how to prepare to write a research paper, references to be used, how to organize the paper, taking notes, making outlines, writing style, writing an introduction, drawing conclusions, and grammar. Footnotes and bibliographies are explained and examples of each are included. College exams are discussed in a section that covers the psychological effect of exams; pretest studying techniques; and exam-taking techniques including dealing with stress, concentrating, and budgeting your time.
