A Guide Toward Better Teaching for the Gifted.
Martinson, Ruth A.
Written for teachers of gifted and talented students, the handbook provides an overview of gifted education and curriculum development. The first chapter considers the need for preparation of teachers who work with the gifted. A summary of past and present efforts in gifted education reviews research on teacher education and teaching approaches with gifted students. A chapter on preparation for curriculum planning presents examples of attitude scales and data collection forms, (including interest inventories) as well as case studies of gifted children. A final chapter focuses on such curriculum development aspects as group discussion suggestions and ideas for meaningful learning. Examples of student poetry and term reports are included. (CL)
