This booklet lists skills and activities that may be used by parents and teachers to insure the success of each child in reading. Designed for grades four through seven, the booklet suggests procedures for parental assistance, determining reading readiness and reading levels, developing basic reading skills, outlining a reading lesson for skills and sequence, teaching study skills, reading in the content area, and improving listening skills. Also included are a list of common prefixes and their assimilated forms, with examples of their use; scientific/technical prefixes, roots, and combining forms; suffixes that form verbs and feminine words; suffixes used to show agent, abstract concepts, and diminutives; roots and combining forms from the Latin; an outline for preparing reading lessons; and a reading program assessment survey form.
