Statistical data and summary analyses on the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant (BEOG) Program for the 1977-78 award year are presented in this annual report intended as a status guide or desktop reference manual. For the first time the report contains information based on merged applicant/recipient data. The tables provide summary statistics for cross-year reference and by type of institution. Distribution of BEOG recipients is tabulated by student eligibility range, family income, grant level, educational cost range, and type of institution. Other tables show the distribution of Basic Grant recipients, grant expenditures, and average grants by type and control of institution; and the distribution of recipients by state and control of institution.
