This paper describes the development of technical word lists for elementary school children in the subject areas of art, composition, grammar, handwriting, literature, mathematics, music, physical education, reading, science, social science, and spelling. It summarizes how forms of entries were chosen, what the editing procedures were, and how the words were processed for computer. It describes the results including the number of words in each area, the overlap between subjects, and how discrepancies between reviewers in each subject area were handled. The appendixes include the textbook lists for each subject area, names and qualifications of the reviewers, the instructions for the reviewers, a listing sheet, an example of a textbook outline for the reviewers, a follow-up notice sent to each reviewer, instructions for editing, and record layout forms for input and output data.
