This bibliography presents approximately 300 citations of articles, books, and curriculum materials included in the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) system on the topic of evaluating art education. Most of the materials were published between 1969 and 1977. The document is presented in eight sections. Section I cites over 100 works dealing with evaluation theory and models. Section II offers a summary matrix which charts materials about different types of arts and craft programs by type of administration, location of program (school, community, or independent study project), and general discussion. Section III presents approximately 60 citations and a summary matrix dealing with development and measurement of musical and visual art ability. Section IV offers 13 citations relating to performance objectives. Section V focuses on evaluation of music, art, and aesthetics through research. Approximately 40 citations are presented. Section VI presents 10 citations and a matrix of experimental instructional programs. Section VII offers approximately 15 citations dealing with self-evaluation, student evaluation, and teacher evaluation. The final section presents eight citations on using and evaluating educational materials. For each citation, information is presented on title, author, availability, price, and document number within the ERIC system. (DB)
