This national guide presents credit recommendations and course descriptions for education officials to consider when granting credit to students for learning acquired in noncollegiate organizations. The courses listed in the guide represent only a small sample of the educational programs conducted by the participating organizations. A section on use of the guide explains the types of courses in the guide, how to locate a particular course exhibit, how to interpret course exhibits, how the credit recommendations might be used, and how to receive assistance from the program offices. Questions and answers for counselors and advisors of adult students, and guidelines for national guide users in colleges and universities are included. Procedures and criteria used in the evaluation process for making credit recommendations are summarized. This edition of the guide also contains the results of evaluations on credit recommendations for apprenticeship programs and for courses offered by home-study schools that are accredited bV the National Home Study Council.
