Lacy, Grace, Comp.
The book, over half of which consists of appendixes, discusses the identification of gifted and talented students and presents some suggested identification procedures. Topics addressed include factors basic to gifted performance, the interrelationship of identification procedures with curriculum and staff, the relationships between conceptions of giftedness and identification procedures, the benefits of early identification, the identification of the disadvantaged gifted, talent identification, and the handicapped gifted. Identification procedures recommended include individual intelligence tests; group tests; the use of summary matrices; and nomination by parents, peers, and teachers. The 18 appendixes include various scales, profiles, and checklists having to do with the identification of the gifted and talented. (DLS)
