CDA Training Handbook for CDA Area Workshop on Training of Trainers.

This workshop manual provides information and practice exercises in areas designed to train Child Development Associate (CDA) field supervisors. The manual includes: (1) a list of roles and related responsibilities of the CDA supervisor; (2) information on self-concept theory and its application to field supervision; (3) descriptions of the observation and data collection skills required of the field trainer in conducting ongoing intern assessment and directions and forms for practicing those skills; (4) lists of guidelines (indicators) for analyzing observation data according to the six competencies of the CDA program, directions and problems for use in practicing those analysis processes, and information, and evaluation and data collection forms for determining training needs of individual interns; (5) a discussion of how to use the JOHARI Awareness Model to increase awareness of the potential impact of the CDA field supervisor's attitudes on members of the CDA team; and (6) information on verbal communication, evaluation forms, and directions for modeling basic interpersonal skills. Included in the appendices are a glossary of CDA terms and procedures and examples of Private Perceptual World diagrams. (SE)
