The school site can become a resource capable of enriching both the educational and community environment. However, many different local and regional factors must be identified and interactions studied in order to develop a sound basis for effective school site selection, planning, and development. This document provides background material about the importance of environmental factors and states the importance of developing the school site for broadly based community uses. Extensive guidelines are provided for planning or improving school sites and for the operation of an educational planning committee. (MLF)
