A Guide to Federal Funding in the Social Sciences.

This guide is intended to help colleges and universities identify sources of federal funding in the social sciences. Brief summaries of federal program grants for institutions and for individuals are provided. Each summary includes a description of the grant, the amount of money available, and deadlines for applications. Grants for research and development, training, consultant services, and fellowships are available in many fields, including economics, sociology, law and criminal justice, political science, behavioral science, psychology, anthropology, linguistics, social service fields, and interdisciplinary areas focusing on urban affairs, environment, population research, and international relations. Programs of the following groups are cited: National Science Foundation; National Endowment for the Humanities; Department of Health, Education, and Welfare; Department of Justice; Department of State; Smithsonian Institution; Civil Service; Department of Labor; Department of Transportation; Department of Housing and Urban Development; and the National Endowment for the Arts.
