Designed as a guide for new faculty members and as a source of reference for others to the procedures, policies, regulations, and benefits on campus pertaining to the academic community, this handbook presents a history of the University of North Carolina and the Greensboro campus, a chart showing academic and administrative organization, an alphabetized main text with cross-references, and 19 appended documents. Annual leave, campus mail service, child care facilities, continuing education, examination policy, faculty committees, grading policies, insurance programs, the library, recreational opportunities, and student government are some of the topics addressed in the main text. Appended documents include some of the following items: the instrument of government of the University; regulations on academic freedom, tenure, and due process; the academic honor code; regulations and procedures of the curriculum committee; political activities of University Consortium Inc. agreement to provide open access to students for registration in courses offered at area institutions; agreements to provide sharing of faculty time and open access to students between the University at Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University; medical procedures for the campus; and policies for the protection of human subjects in research.
