How to Study. A Guide to Studying at the Open University.
Open Univ., Walton, Bletchley, Bucks (England).
This guide to studying at the Open University concerns the problems of independent learning for the adult student. Working effectively as a student requires clear and realistic goals, support from close contacts at home and work, a business-like approach, and a desire to learn. Study techniques covered are when and where to study, how to read better and more quickly, how to make useful notes, how to learn from television and radio broadcasts, how to write essays, how to prepare for and take examinations, and how to find out about using the library. Suggestions are offered on using regional tutorial services and the study center and on learning from discussion groups. Instructions and an exercise are provided to introduce the student to completing the special forms for computer-marked assignments (CMAs). Information is provided on scoring systems and processing of CMAs, and a sample computer-marked assignment form is included. Instructions for completing tutor-marked assignments and a sample form are provided. (SW)
