This issue contains five articles dealing with teaching English as a second language. "Distinctive Features of Written English" by L. E. Henrichson discusses the special instruction that is needed if a student is to learn to write well. "In-Class Dynamics in TESL" by J. B. Alter presents a technique for spontaneous oral duscussion on newly introduced topics. "An ESL-ABE Video Tape Bank" announces a set of fifteen color video tapes, developed by Palomar College, San Marcos, California, which can be borrowed or purchased and which deal with a variety of practical strategies and techniques. "Report on the 1978 TESOL Convention" by T. G. Huebner comments on the presentations and workshops at the convention held in Mexico City in April. "The Strip Story: Making it Work" by M. James discusses this method of teaching proper sequencing and applies it to other language activities and objectives. Finally there is a review of the book "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" by Alice C. Pack. (AMH)
