A Guide to Assessing Minority and Sex Role Stereotyping in Elementary and Secondary Schools. Revised.
Hanson, Gordon
This resource guide and annotated bibliography is designed to assist educators interested in exploring whether or not role stereotyping exists in their local school systems, and to provide them with resources to reduce this stereotyping. Some of the problems of stereotyping in schools are reviewed. The books, articles and assessment instruments cited have been included because they either address directly the various issues raised by role stereotyping and provide further references on the issue, or because they can aid in assessing textbooks, curriculum practices and administrative practices. In order to help the educator to investigate many facets of stereotyping in the education process, the annotations are separated into general categories: those dealing with minority role stereotyping and those dealing with sex role stereotyping. Within each category, the citations are alphabetized by author and each is numbered. Each annotation is also cross referenced as to its topic and/or purpose. The final section of the bibliography is a collection of selected references of works available through the ERIC system. (Author/EB)
