One of a series of bibliographies on selected topics, this annotated bibliography includes 116 citations on the educational and occupational aspirations and expectations of rural youth. Citations are derived from the ERIC monthly publications "Resources in Education" (RIE) and "Current Index to Journals in Education" (CIJE). The RIE citations cover the period June 1967 through March 1977; the CIJE citations cover the period January 1970 through March 1977. RIE citations include: title, author, accession number, date of publication; sponsoring agency, index terms, abstract, and availability information. The CIJE citations include all of the above with the exception of an abstract; annotations are provided when the title does not adequately reflect article content. Of use to a variety of educators interested in rural youth, this bibliography contains research reports, case studies, program descriptions, comparative analyses, synthesis papers, etc. Major concepts covered include: racial differences; rural urban differences; employment opportunities; educational status comparisons; achievement needs; socioeconomic status; dropouts; career choice; social mobility; changing attitudes; and values.
