Manual for Drug Abuse Treatment Program Self-Evaluation. Treatment Program Monograph Series No. 1.
Guess, L. Lynn; Tuchfeld, Barry S.
This monograph is the first of a series produced by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The series will provide simple, straightforward presentations relevant to the operational aspects of the clinical setting. This monograph provides the basic tools for each program to establish reasonable treatment goals and assess the quality of its service by measuring the progress of the program in reaching those goals. Such evaluation data can be used by the program manager to upgrade treatment services and demonstrate accountability for funding. This manual describes the nature and purpose of clinical self-evaluation, the limitations on the use of the data, and methods for conducting such evaluations using data collection procedures already in operation in the program. It should be a useful resource for treatment personnel. (Author)
