Banta, Trudy W., Comp.
Articles presented in this monograph form a work which characterizes career education as a curriculum component that requires a team effort on the part of teachers, counselors, and administrators if it is to work in the public schools. The first article outlines some specific strategies which teachers can use to make career education an integral part of the curriculum in every school subject. In the second article, the counselor's role in the school career education team is characterized. The third article describes the multidisciplinary team which must be established in each school to provide for the career education needs of the handicapped and includes lesson planning suggestions for teachers implementing mainstreaming. The fourth article provides direction for the involvement of both central-office and building-level administrators in career education. The fifth article suggests how the school career education team can systematically identify and bring to bear community resources in support of efforts to establish relationships between education and the world of work. The sixth article describes a computerized K-14 career information system, INFOE (Information Needed for Occupational Education). The final article consists of an annotated bibliography of career education resources, including books, audiovisuals, kits and other materials. (Author/TA)
