Several program transcripts on educational testing from the National Public Radio series, Options in Education, are included in this pamphlet. In "The I.Q. Controversy," Ned Block discusses culturally biased standardized tests. Dr. Harold Hodgkinson, former Director of the National Institute of Education, and Noel Epstein, Education Editor of the Washington Post engage in a dialogue on tests and testing. Chuck Stone, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, speaks on "Standardized Tests and Black Kids." William Raspberry, columnist for the Washington Post, gives his advice on "Teaching Students to Take Tests." Dr. Hodgkinson and Mr. Epstein engage in a second debate over "Race and Intelligence." Dr. Elias Blake, Director of the Institute for Services to Education discusses "A Fantasy: How to Accurately Compare Intelligence of Blacks and Whites;" and "The Relationship of Standardized Tests and Textbooks" is discussed by Dr. Jerrold Zacharias, a physicist currently working with the "Infinity Factory," public television's mathematics program.
