Domestic Student Exchange Programs: A New Adventure.
Jeffrey, Jerry
This guide is intended to aid secondary school administrators in planning a domestic student exchange program. Much of the information presented comes from responses to questionnaires completed by schools with successful domestic exchange programs. Among other things, the questionnaire asked schools to describe their best and worst exchanges, the programs they offer to visiting students, the responsibilities they require of parents and students, and how they raise money for the program. The guide makes suggestions and points out procedures that have worked for exchange programs in the hope that each school will select the ideas that suit its needs and then build upon them. It is organized into three brief chapters that focus in turn on the rationale for a domestic exchange program, preplanning the program, and planning the actual exchange. The appendix contains sample forms that may be useful in planning and implementing an exchange program. (Author/JG)
