The University of the City of Human Hope. Occasional Papers, Vol.1, No. 16.
Hough, Joseph C., Jr.
The most pressing business for those segments of the Christian community interested in the university is to develop some fresh and current theological understanding of the university that will take account of the peculiar nature of the academy and place the university in the context of a world theology. This discussion of a theology of the university has four parts: (1) a historical perspective; (2) the evolution of the university; (3) the university as the city of human hope (futurism, freedom, commitment, and critical reflection); and (4) the connection in the different purposes of the church and the university.
