The Evolution of a Confluent Language Program.
Galyean, Beverly
This article describes the evolution of a confluent language program, which provides simultaneous processes for successful language learning, self awareness, self appreciation, and interpersonal communication. The confluent language curriculum design has been successfully implemented in language classes throughout the United States and in some European countries. Research and development of confluent language programs for Los Angeles City Schools is currently receiving assistance from federal funds. The project, "The Confluent Teaching of Foreign Languages," is currently being conducted in L.A. city junior and senior high schools and includes Spanish, French, German and Hebrew classes. Peripheral projects are being conducted for English, English as a second language, and bilingual classes. (Author/CFM)
