Proceedings of the Patterns Workshop on Career/Goal Changing and Transfer/Articulation Implications (Rochester Institute of Technology, October 16-18, 1977).
Rochester Inst. of Tech., NY.
The 1977 Patterns Workshop focused upon the special problems of those students who change, adjust and revise their career goals in the middle of their college experience. Texts of five speeches given at the conference are presented and include: (1) Articulation In an Anarchical World, keynote address by Dorothy M. Knoell, discussing major areas of difficulty in facilitating student progress from one level to the next, primarily the portability of credit awarded for achievement in other than regularly scheduled courses; (2) Articulation Between Community Junior Colleges and the Four-Year Institutions, by Sharon MacLaren, providing an historical perspective on articulation problems and suggestions for lessening them; (3) Other Measures of Expected Competencies, by Richard L. Rinehart, examining different approaches to evaluating the experiences of career change students in terms of the criteria for college degrees; (4) Communication and Intercollege Cooperation, by J. Norman Hostetter, discussing information that needs to be made available to transfer students; and (5) Where Is All the Information About Transfers?, by Ernest W. Beals, discussing the Transfer Information Service program. The workshop agenda and a list of participants are provided. (LH)
