Spack, Stan
This booklet explains some of the day care safety features specified by the new Massachusetts State Building Code (January 1, 1975) which must be met before a new day care center can be licensed. The safety features described are those which most often require renovation to meet the building code standards. Best estimates of the costs involved in such renovations have also been detailed and included. The renovations described include: (1) fire doors, (2) boiler rooms (especially walls, ceilings, and fire doors), (3) emergency lighting, (4) double handrails, (5) fire extinguishers, (6) radiator guards, (7) stairway enclosures, (8) fire alarms, (9) vents and (10) access for the handicapped.
