In order to determine the educational needs of currently enrolled students, the College of Alameda developed a comprehensive questionnaire designed to identify sub-groups within the student population and to elicit information on reasons for attending the college, educational and degree objectives, instructional and support service needs, and awareness of and suggestions for modification of campus procedures and policies. The questionnaire was distributed to students enrolled in 20% of the classes offered in each discipline during fall 1976. The 1615 completed questionnaires represented responses from 21% of the total student population. This document presents the detailed results of the study for the overall student enrollment, and for (1) day, evening, and Saturday respondents, (2) disabled respondents, (3) extended opportunity program respondents, (4) full-time and part-time respondents, (5) male and female respondents, (6) minority and ESL respondents, (7) new and continuing respondents, (8) non-degree respondents, (9) older adult respondents, (10) outreach respondents, and (11) veteran respondents. Recommendations based on study results are presented, and the open-ended comments of the respondents and survey instrument are appended. (DC)
