Seminars on International Education for State Foreign Language Supervisors, September 1972 and April 1973. Final Report.

The Modern Language Association conducted two special seminars on international education designed especially for the information of state foreign language supervisors and consultants. The seminars were held on September 28-29, 1972, and April 5-6, 1973. This report gives the agendas for both seminars, a list of the participants, and a discussion of results and participants' reactions. Appendix A includes a position paper presented at the spring seminar by Frank M. Grittner entitled "A Cultural Approach to the Teaching of Foreign Languages." Appendix B includes a proposal (based on the recommendation of the participants in the seminars) by C. Edward Scebold entitled "Program to Develop Culture-Based Second-Language Competency." (CFM)
