Communications Technologies: Bridging the Gap.
Norwood, Frank W.
Expanding communications technology now offers a wide spectrum of instructional resources for the off-campus and extension student. Broadcast television and public television provide a delivery system for many higher education extension programs. Radio, videotape cassettes, and video discs offer additional instructional potential. Broadcast satellites are already in use, but their capabilities have not been completely utilized. Finally, computers hold tremendous potential for open learning systems, but increased use of computerized instruction is likely to depend on lower cost systems and development of high quality software.
