Planning for Health: Development and Application of Social Change Theory.
Blum, Henrik L.
This book undertakes the task of portraying the application of planning theory to health concerns. It defines the purposes planning is meant to serve; analyzes the dynamics of social change; identifies the major determinants of change; and examines how planning can best affect those determinants. The book is organized into five major sections: (1) Introduction; (2) Environment for Planning; (3) Planning to Determine What Improvements are Wanted; (4) Achieving the Improvements Defined as Desirable by Planning, and (5) Measuring the Improvements Obtained through Planning. The five major sections are further divided into a total of 12 chapters. Appendixes contain an exercise for health future mapping for a two-county community and suggested scoreboard indicators for health, social, and environmental concerns. (DMT)
