Athletics and the Law.
Appenzeller, Herb
This book answers questions concerning athletics and the law. The chapters include trends in litigation, disruptive behavior, the changing attitude of the court toward married athletes, training rules, and good conduct codes. They include the problem of athletic travel, the changing role of state athletic associations with their diverse rules, federal legislation, a potpourri of miscellaneous cases, and the area of due process. A final chapter offers conclusions that sum up the material in the ten chapters. At the end of chapters two through ten is a short section entitled "In My Opinion." This section contains free and subjective comments by the author on the material in the chapter based on his experience as a participant, coach, teacher, and administrator. A listing of court cases and an index are included. (DMT)
