Family Contribution Schedule for the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant Program, 1975. Hearing Before the Subcommittee on Education of the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare, United States Senate. Ninety-Fourth Congress, First Session.
Congress of the U.S., Washington, DC. Senate Committee on Labor and Public Welfare.
The family contribution schedule proposed by the Office of Education for use in computing the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant program in the school year 1976-77 was examined by the Senate committee and its witnesses. The liberalization of asset treatment for all individuals, especially those with small farms, is noted. The new schedule should bring the program more into line with the aims which Congress had when it enacted the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant Program to provide basic grants up into the middle-income level. Topics covered by hearing witnesses include: treatment of the assets reserves; treatment of farm and business assets; treatment of family size offsets. The Financial Aid Form currently being used by applicants is included in the transcript. (LBH)
