Intended for parents, the manual provides information helpful in choosing a preschool program appropriate for the handicapped or normal child. The bulk of the document consists of guidelines for asking two types of questions: those to be answered by asking the teacher of the classroom, and those to answered by directly observing the classroom. Questions cover areas such as number of teachers included in the program, availability of professional services, physical structure of the classroom, teacher's responsiveness to children, and characteristics of the curriculum. Discussions of specifics to look for in choosing a program are presented after each of the 20 questions. Appended is the detachable list of the questions for use when observing a particular program.
