Federal Court Cases: A Principal's Handbook on Teacher and Student Rights.
Riley, Bob E.; Mattingly, Jack V.
The assumption of this study is that most principals do not have the time to devote to reading court cases, even though they know it is important. In day-to-day activities, the principal has continuous contact with teachers and students and enforces many school policies and regulations involving both almost daily. This handbook attempts to provide at least rudimentary legal awareness in an easy-to-use format with a bibliography that facilitates detailed study when appropriate. The current literature from 1970 on in the areas of teacher and student rights is reviewed. One of the main purposes of this handbook is to provide information using the ideas and quotes from authorities and writers in the field of school law. No attempt has been made to make this a detailed legal research document. Readable and useful information that a building principal may find valuable in his work has been compiled. (Author/IRT)
