Naval Training Command, Pensacola, FL.
One of the series for enlisted Navy and Naval Reserve personnel, the training manual prepares students for advancement within their rating, aids in on-the-job training, or serves as a review source. Charts, graphs, tables, maps, and illustrations supplement detailed text covering atmospheric physics and world climatology, air masses, circulation, and frontal systems. Several chapters focus on forecasting upper air systems, surface systems, cloud conditions, precipitation, temperature, storms, icing, fog, and so forth. Tropical conditions are given speical treatment, and several chapters deal with weather briefing, flight forecasting, sea surface and ocean thermal structure forecasting, and other special forecasts. Three chapters examine meteorological equipment and maintenance, and a final chapter covers administration, training, and communications. (MDW)
