The report is the first in a series being published on the results of work carried out under an OECD program to promote cooperation among member countries for improving the quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness of school construction. Symposium proceedings are summarized that examine the development of the school building process in the light of social and economic pressures and discuss the briefing and design stages of a school building project, providing for future change, methods of building, research and development, and school building and the teaching profession.
