This book provides current information on general questions pertaining to various statutory enactments, court decisions, and administrative decisions affecting public schools. Since it is intended for use by boards of education in New York State, heavy emphasis is placed on provisions that apply specifically to New York schools. However, some of the Federal legislation and court decisions mentioned apply in other States as well. The book is organized topically into broad subject areas that cover the entire spectrum of public education. Within each section, a question and answer format is used to address specific concerns of school board members. A detailed topical index refers to relevant passages by chapter and question number.
