The adult education directory was prepared for three purposes: as a guide for counselors and adult students who wish to know what courses are available in Tanzania to meet their special interests and needs; to inform adult educators of the present provisions and fields of study covered by existing organizations; and to offer information on the teaching facilities and accommodations available at centers throughout the country for holding courses and seminars. Courses not open to the general public and organizations offering only occasional and informal adult educational activities were excluded from the directory. The directory lists the addresses and aims of 90 educational institutions, gives details of the classes offered (type of course, subject, duration, and fees), student eligibility requirements, facilities available (libraries, classrooms, meeting rooms, etc.), other activities of the institution, and in some cases information about examinations and certificates.
