School Planning Manual.
Watson, Cicely; Quazi, Saeed
This text arose out of a practicum course for school planners given by the authors at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. The practicum is the core course of an M.Ed. program, which was designed to prepare planning-administrators for work at the level of the board of education in a system of education such as that of the province of Ontario. Topics covered in the book include economic base study, population projections, projecting enrollment, schools in the neighborhood, school master plan, and projecting the supply and demand of teachers. Working through this book, a school planner should be able to make all the calculations needed to prepare a county "master plan." Many of the examples used are taken from Ontario practice and conditions, but the tasks and responsibilities are those usually assigned local school systems -- whatever the educational authority -- and the techniques and skills are universally applicable.
