This publication contains papers read at the Conference on Urban Geography for Secondary School Teachers in Hong Kong, 1973, and experimental teaching materials on urban studies based on some of the ideas of the American High School Geography Project. The following papers are included: (1) "Teaching Urbanization" provides general information on new teaching developments; (2) "Urban Growth in Developing Countries" outlines the pattern of urban growth in developing countries in order to give a wider background to the study of urban growth and its associated problems in Hong Kong; and (3) "Urban Studies in Secondary School Geography" suggests concrete examples of the nature and scope of secondary urban studies in Hong Kong. The Teaching Urbanization Kit, which comprises one half of the publication, illustrates how some of the ideas of the American High School Geography Project could be adopted to local use. Objectives, procedure, teaching strategies, and materials for the kit are discussed. (Author/RM)
