Toward a Paradigm of Educational Change: The Role of Management Information Systems.
Simonds, Richard Shelton
The paradigm and model presented in this paper, influenced by the Havelock's "linkage" model and Chin's "changing" model, aim to assist educators in determing directions of change using a selection of managerial and behavioral techniques, and to regulate the rate of change using management information and control systems. The generic paradigm includes components of change such as: community involvement, "temporary" systems, force-field analysis, forcing function, professional education, and computer-managed and client-assisted change. A proposal for a change agency is presented which incorporates a change agent, demonstration programs in schools, and a computer data file to assist in identifying and selecting alternatives.
